Going beyond the report
Parametric takes a consultative approach to defining and executing client projects. We work actively in helping our clients form and scope the business or policy issue to be answered, and then determine the best techniques, scope and modality to effectively and unambiguously resolve the question. We believe that a resolved issue is always more important than pages and pages of charts that don't quite answer clients' burning questions. In order to do this we generally work with our clients through these main project phases:
  1. Definition and scope: We work with clients to succinctly describe the key business or policy issues to be answered, ensuring that subsequent work actually meets the client's requirements and will represent money - and time - well spent
  2. Technique and Modality Choice: We believe in bringing the tool to the problem, not vice-versa. We are well versed in all of the latest research and analysis techniques, but we will only use them when they fit. Also, because of our structure, we are not wedded to a single form of data collection. We will recommend the one that best fits the client's problem and budget
  3. Design for Analysis: Many people believe that designing a survey instrument is trivial, which is why we see so many poor surveys and inactionable reports. In contrast, we put great effort into designing the survey instrument with analysis in mind, understanding the pitfalls of human response patterns and the demands of advanced, post-survey analysis
  4. Top Quality Fielding: We have developed relationships with the best local, national and international fielding partners, and we know how to specify high-quality, cost-effective data collection when fresh, custom data is appropriate
  5. Analysis "Beyond the Tabs": Much research never gets beyond the basic reporting of counts and frequencies. We use our business, financial and analytic backgrounds to develop analyses that go well beyond simple reporting to provide our client stakeholders the insight and support they need. Thus we might develop in-depth segmentation personas, reliable financial valuation models or complex "what-if" simulators - depending on the needs of the specific project
  6. Answering the Question: Having done all this, we roll up our sleeves and work with the client to help them, their teams and their stakeholders to understand, internalize and utilize the insight that has been generated. Parametric's deliverables are not designed to sit on shelves as "trophies" - they're designed to make a difference in the client's success. Our engagements regularly include an educational component to ensure that research is not merely available, but can be used by interested stakeholders
